At GreenBlue Urban, we are thrilled to announce our participation in The BIG Biodiversity Challenge and Awards, designed to raise awareness and implementation of biodiversity net gain principles within the construction industry. This important challenge encourages us all to act by adding at least one new biodiversity enhancement to our construction sites, developments, or existing buildings.
The aim of The BIG Biodiversity Challenge is multifaceted:
Raise Awareness: It highlights the vital role of biodiversity in the built environment, reaching everyone in the construction industry.
Encourage Collaboration: It promotes partnerships between construction teams and local communities to ensure the long-term protection and appreciation of local biodiversity.
Integrate Biodiversity: It emphasises the importance of including biodiversity in green infrastructure initiatives.
Support Strategic Goals: It aligns with the targets of the Biodiversity 2020 strategy, reinforcing the need for sustainable practices in urban development.
We are particularly proud to have entered our project, Walk Cycle Live Stirling, for the Multi-Benefit Award. This initiative, carried out in collaboration with Stirling Council, Ironside Farrar, Sustrans Scotland, and Transport for Scotland, exemplifies our commitment to sustainable urban practices.
The judges noted our project's comprehensive approach, addressing crucial aspects such as carbon reduction, Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS), pedestrian safety, and flood alleviation, all while delivering multiple benefits to the community. Supported by robust data, this project demonstrates the effectiveness of our interventions in promoting long-term green infrastructure and enhancing the local environment.
We are excited to promote this project and its positive impact on biodiversity and community well-being. Together, we can take meaningful steps towards a greener future and inspire others in the construction industry to join us in this essential endeavour.
Let’s embrace The BIG Biodiversity Challenge and make a difference!
